Ayurveda is a term composed of “Ayur” which means lifetime and “Veda” which means revealed knowledge, wisdom. It is one of the oldest holistic natural medicine. Currently, thanks to the latest scientific discoveries, Ayurveda is showing its usefulness and timeliness again. Millions of people take care of themselves through ayurveda today. But where can we find Ayurvedic preparations to increase our well-being?
I personally know and use the holistic and integrated preparations of Maharaishi Ayurveda, which support physical and mental rebalancing. I mainly use them to rebalance my excess of Pitta dosha or to plan a seasonal or daily routine of detoxification.
Besides I take Maharishi food supplements because they respect the original ayurvedic formulas and promote physiological functions by maintaining their balance or restoring them.
Here are the ones I often use in Spring to help digestion and function of the liver:
Hepamap: purifying and digestive based on Kathuka rhizoma, Bhumyamalaki herba and Gokshura fructus, Aloe, Ginger, Tulsi, and other herbs. It affects the overall vitality and brightness of the skin. 2 tablets, 2 times daily before meals for 3 months;
Relaxmap: based on Indian Ginseng and Jatamansi, it facilitates relaxation and mental well-being; Supports the nervous system, it helps maintain the propensity to calm and adapt to change. 2 tablets 2 times daily before meals for 3 months;
Olimap: 2 tablets twice a day after meals for 3 months; made of Guggul, it promotes the physiological functions of uro-genital, skeletal, muscular, endocrine, circulatory and digestive organs, supports all doshas and metabolic functions. It promotes digestive agni.
These are the ones I often use in Winter to prevent or cure cough and catarrh:
Kasnimap: with Vasa, Liquerizia, Kanhola and Canfora which act positively on the fluidity of bronchial secretions. 2 tablespoons 2 times a day for 2 months.
Laryngeal: Liquorice and Carnation Nails work on nose and throat wellbeing. Nutmeg promotes the well-being and the trophism of the mucous membranes. Cardamom acts on the flow of bronchial secretions. 2 tablets 2 times daily for two months.
Maharishi products that work for daily hygiene:
Infused Vata (soothing and relaxing), Pitta (refreshing and broken) and Kapha (stimulating and warming)
Vata Oil: For normal skin dry skin based on sesame oil and mimosa extract. In the morning, before the shower, I massage it throughout my body, insisting on feet and ears. Then I take a shower. One part of the oil actually moisturizes my skin and favor its physiological functions, the rest is washed away together with the accumulated toxins.
Nasimap: a drop in both nostrils in the morning and in the evening. According to Ayurvedic tradition, this preparation favors the cleansing of nasal cavities. For me it is indispensable at the mountains or when I go on my motorcycle to maintain the moisture of my nose and prevent pathogens and pollution from entering. I also used this for my kid after I cleaned his nose with the isotonic solution.
Maharishi products can be found at “Pulsatilla Erboristeria” in via dei Macelli di Soziglia in Genoa. There I has an Ayurvedic counseling by naturist Ilaria Delogu. She used the wrist diagnosis method (Nadi Vigyan, a technique recognized by the WHO), to perceive my pulse quality and detect my dosha’s imbalances. We talked about eating habits and about my sleep quality.
Ilaria gave me some precious advise, simple daily hygiene tricks that have greatly improved my digestion, such as prepare 1 liter of hot water, boiled for 15 minutes, to drink in small sips during the day.
